LDRS Creative Masking Technique & Extending your Stamps

Welcome back to Fairystampland. Today I have a really innovative card design to share with you. The inspiration for this card came to me one night when I was flipping through my wonderful collection of LDRS Creative dies. My eye stopped on the Jubilee Magical Slider set. I knew I wanted to make a horizontal scene merging the Mountains and Tree Line Stamps together. So when I spotted the scalloped slider die from the Jubilee set I began planing with it and here is what I came up with.

To create this extra long card (It will fit into a business size envelope). I used masking and a stamp positioning tool. Here is how I did it.

Step 1: Below shows a close up of the scalloped rectangle die that caught my eye. This has a score mark in the middle for when using it as intended (in the Jubilee Slider Card design) but for this all I am using is this one die. I simply cut a base card in white to fit just inside the scalloped die so the blue would nicely border the scene.

Step 2: I next placed the white piece into my stamp positioning tool and stamped the tree line stamp. As you can see below the stamp is not long enough to cover the entire width of the white paper. So I created a mask by stamping the tree line stamp onto a piece of LDRS Masking Paper and I fussy cut it out before applying it as shown below. Once the first stamped image is masked off you can continue stamping the rest of the scene's length. The stamp positioning tool really helped with this technique.

This shows the stamping on the extended portion over the mask covering the first stamped image.

Step 3: Next I lined up the bottom of the mountain stamp just below the lowest tree. This way the line from the mountains stamp would not show since the masking would cover it. I hope by the below picture you can see what I mean.

Step 4: The magic begins when you remove the mask :-)

Step 5: Next use a alcohol marker friendly pen to fill in the gaps left between the two stamps.

Step 6: Color using your favorite coloring techniques. I then Trimmed the section out and used it to cover the blue pattered paper from the Arctic Paper 6x6" Paper Pack. 

Step 7: Last but not least use a little glitter on the tops of your mountain peaks and on the snowy areas on the trees. I used a glitter pen. Here is a close up of the outcome.
